Overexerting, twisting, lifting, or cardio exercise can result in excessive movement of the ribs with breathing. During labored breathing the joint formed between a rib and the mid back can begin to function improperly and become painful.
Intense, sharp, stabbing pain is noticed especially with deep or quick breathing. A small local area in the mid back on one side is suggestive of rib pain.
Specific adjustments to the joint formed between the rib and mid back along with ART treatment to the surrounding musculature will restore proper mobility and relieve the pain.
Rib pain can also happen along the front side along sternum and be misinterpreted as heart related pain.
