The most common complaint with entrapment of the Dorsal Scapular nerve is pain, burning and numbness between the shoulder blade and spine on one side. This can also cause headaches.
The Dorsal Scapular Nerve sneaks out between the muscles that are right at the junction of your shoulder and neck. Overuse of these muscles can pinch the nerve causing irritation.
Using ART to relax the muscles irritating the nerves and to make sure the nerve is sliding freely alongside those muscles is the key to resolving a Dorsal Scapular Nerve Entrapment.
If you have a sore “knot” that starts by the junction of your neck and shoulder and runs down beside the shoulder blade, the Dorsal Scapular Nerve is probably involved.
